Rushing Precision Machined Parts to the North Pole

Here at Dynamic Precision Products, a leading manufacturer of precision parts based in Illinois, we recently received an order for some very specific precision machined parts.

We have shipped aerospace parts we’ve manufactured to California and Florida. We have had orders for BGA test sockets come in from Washington State. But we had never received an order from the North Pole before. And this order was a rush!

Now, we can’t tell you any of the specifications. When you specialize in the production of one-of-a-kind prototypes and precision machined parts as we do, confidentiality is always important – but in this case, secrecy was a matter of the utmost elf-respect. But we got permission to give you a little hint.

Special Holiday Orders

Now, we all know that Santa Claus has a workshop at the North Pole and that the workshop is filled with elves who are busy making all the toys that Santa will deliver on Christmas Eve to good little girls and boys around the world.

It was Thomas Nast, a 19th-century cartoonist whose work often appeared in Harper’s Weekly, who first gave us a peak inside the workshop. As Hymns and Carols of Christmas reports, “Nast established Santa’s workshop and official residence at the North Pole in four different drawings between 1879 and 1886.”

Nast’s illustrations were republished later in conjunction with Santa Claus and His Works by George P. Webster. Hymns and Carols of Christmas says that Webster, “took up this idea, explaining that Santa’s toy factory and ‘his house, during the long summer months, was hidden in the ice and snow of the North Pole’.”

There is still a lot of holiday magic wrapped up in the process, but the fact of the matter is that these days, the elves just can’t keep up with the demand – especially now that they have to maintain safe social distancing within the workshop – without relying at least somewhat on manufacturing.

And that is where that order for precision machined parts that we received comes in.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday from all of us at Dynamic Precision Products, Santa’s go-to precision parts manufacturer.
